Questions
Three regimes coexist: the Capital Market Authority onshore, the DFSA in the DIFC and the FSRA in the ADGM. A broker's licence states which one it holds, and that determines who handles a complaint. Check the CMA register of licensed companies at uaecma.gov.ae to see whether a firm appears there.
Bank transfer is the main rail, with local bank transfer, card and international wire also available. Your bank's transfer app shows the cut-off times and any fees your bank applies. Match the account name on the broker side to your bank account name to avoid delays on withdrawal.
The London and New York overlap runs 16:00 to 21:00 GST, after the typical working day, and is when liquidity is usually deepest. Sydney runs 01:00 to 10:00 GST, Tokyo 04:00 to 13:00 GST and London 12:00 to 21:00 GST. Conditions outside these windows can differ, so check the platform before relying on them.
The UAE Has Three Financial Regimes, and Your Broker's Licence Tells You Which One Applies
Forex trading in the UAE sits under three coexisting regimes: the Capital Market Authority onshore, the DFSA in the DIFC and the FSRA in the ADGM. A broker's licence says which one it holds, and that changes who handles a complaint if something goes wrong.
Before you open an account, check the firm against the CMA register of licensed companies at uaecma.gov.ae. If the broker is registered elsewhere, the register will not list it, and you should ask directly which authority supervises it.
This matters more than the trading platform's design. A complaint about a rejected withdrawal goes to a different body depending on the regime, and knowing which one applies saves weeks.

A register says whether a firm holds a licence on the day you look, and nothing about how it treats clients. Search the legal entity from the broker's own footer, not the brand.
Funding and Withdrawals Run Through Bank Transfer, in AED or Another Currency
The main payment rail for UAE trading accounts is bank transfer. Local bank transfer, card and international wire also appear, but the bank transfer is the one most residents use for both deposits and withdrawals.
Your bank's transfer app shows the cut-off times and any fees your bank charges. Those are set by your bank, not the broker, so check the app rather than assuming the platform's funding page covers everything.
Keep your account name and your bank account name matched. A mismatch is a common reason a withdrawal stalls, and it is easier to fix before you send funds than after.
The funding rails, and who sets their limits
- Local bank transfer
- Limits set by your bank and the broker
- Card
- Card payment — limits set by your card issuer and the broker
- International wire
- Bank transfer — limits set by your bank and the broker
Limits and fees are set by the provider and the broker and change without notice, so they are not printed here. Confirm both in the provider's app and on the broker's funding page, and withdraw to the same account you paid from.
The Trading Day in GST: London and New York Overlap in the Evening
Session hours in Gulf Standard Time, which is UTC+4, shape when liquidity is deepest. Sydney runs 01:00 to 10:00 GST, Tokyo 04:00 to 13:00 GST, London 12:00 to 21:00 GST and New York 16:00 to 01:00 GST.
The London and New York overlap falls locally between 16:00 and 21:00 GST. For a resident with a working day, that window sits after office hours, which is why many UAE traders concentrate activity in the evening.
Outside those hours, spreads and price gaps can behave differently. If you trade before the Sydney open or after New York closes, expect thinner conditions.
The hours that matter, in GST
- Busiest window
- 16:00-21:00 GST — London and New York open together
- Thinnest stretch
- 01:00-10:00 GST — Sydney alone, wider spreads
- European open
- 12:00-21:00 GST
- US open
- 16:00-01:00 GST
- Closed
- Friday New York close until the Sydney open on Monday
Hours are shown for the clocks in force today: London is on GMT until 28 March, New York is on EDT until 1 November. The UAE does not change clocks, so each move shifts these local times by an hour and the page is rebuilt on the day it happens.
Choosing a Platform and Broker Starts With Verification, Not Features
The best trading platform in the UAE is the one whose broker you have already verified. Charts, order types and mobile apps matter, but they matter less than knowing which regulator stands behind the firm.
Start with the CMA register, then read the broker's own funding page for the payment methods it actually supports. Confirm that bank transfer is available in the currency you hold, and check how withdrawals are processed.
The forex expo in Dubai each year draws brokers and platform vendors to the emirate. It is a useful place to compare offerings in person, but treat marketing material as a starting point for your own checks, not a substitute for them.

A figure with no source and no date is a guess with good manners. Anything we could not trace is left out rather than printed from memory.

What This Hub Page Covers Next
From here, the guide moves into regulation and complaints, funding and withdrawals, platform selection and the GST session map. Each section answers a question a UAE resident actually asks before opening or moving an account.
Nothing on this page recommends a specific broker or predicts returns. Where a figure is needed, such as a fee or a minimum, the guide points you to the source that publishes it.
Read the regulation section first if you are new. It determines which of the three regimes your complaint would go to, and that shapes everything else.
Account opening: the documents
- Emirates ID or passport with residence visa
- Who you are
- Selfie with the ID document
- That the document is in your hands
Brokers usually also ask for proof of address - Ejari or utility bill; requirements differ per firm. The account-opening page of the broker lists what that firm accepts.
Your Bank Sees a Transfer to a Broker, Not a Trading Deposit
When funds leave a UAE bank account for a broker, the receiving institution sees an outbound transfer like any other, not a trading deposit. That distinction matters at the bank's own compliance desk, which reviews transfers on its internal criteria, not on the broker's regulatory status. The CMA register tells you whether a broker is licensed here, but it says nothing about how your bank will treat the payment.
Before sending anything, read the broker's funding page and your bank's transfer screen together. The reference field, beneficiary name and account currency must match what the broker expects, or the payment can be returned or held. A returned transfer is not a lost deposit, but it delays your trading and may trigger a second review when you resend it.
Keep the confirmation from your banking app. If the broker later asks for proof of payment, that record is the fastest way to resolve it. The order of operations is simple: verify the broker on the CMA register, check the broker's funding instructions, then initiate the transfer from your own account.
| Platform | What it is | Who makes it |
|---|---|---|
| MetaTrader 4 | The older standard; expert advisors and a large script ecosystem | MetaQuotes |
| MetaTrader 5 | The newer build; more order types and timeframes | MetaQuotes |
| cTrader | Depth of market and a different order model | Spotware |
| The broker's own app | Usually simpler, and tied to that one firm | The broker |
A platform is software, not a safeguard: the same terminal is offered by licensed and unlicensed firms alike. The licence question is answered on the register, not in the app store.
A Broker's Licence Does Not Follow Your Money Across Borders
Many readers assume a broker's CMA status protects the whole relationship, wherever the account is held. It does not. The licence covers the entity and activities named on the register, and an offshore arm of the same brand may sit outside that scope entirely. Check which legal entity holds your account against the register entry, not against the brand name on the website.
This matters most when a dispute arises. A complaint about an entity that is not on the CMA register cannot be handled through that route, however familiar the platform looks. Before depositing, confirm the entity name on your account agreement and search that exact name on the register at uaecma.gov.ae.
The practical consequence is that two accounts on one platform can carry different protections. Treat the entity, not the app, as the thing you verified. If the names do not match, ask the broker to explain the structure in writing before you fund anything.

| How often it moves | Every trading day | — |
| The rate your account uses | Your broker's own conversion | The broker's rate card |
| Symbol on this site | AED | — |
An indicative rate is for sizing a position in your head, not for settling one. The gap between it and your broker's conversion is part of what a trade costs you.
The Evening Overlap Is Also When Withdrawal Requests Queue Up
London and New York overlap in the UAE evening, which is when spreads are typically tightest and activity is highest. It is also when many account holders submit withdrawal requests, after a day of trading. That timing affects when a request is processed, because broker operations and banking cut-offs do not run on trading hours.
A withdrawal initiated late in the evening may not enter the payment queue until the next business day, and bank transfer settlement adds its own timeline. This is normal, not a sign of a problem. The failure mode is submitting a second request because the first appears stuck, which can complicate the reconciliation on the broker's side.
Plan withdrawals around the working week rather than the trading session. Confirm the expected timeline on the broker's own funding page, and raise a query through the broker's official channel if the stated window passes without movement.
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| A fixed monthly return, promised in advance | Ask which licence permits it, then look the firm up on the CMA register of licensed companies. |
| A deposit asked for in gift cards or vouchers | Check the broker's own funding page: firms list bank, card and wallet rails, not vouchers. |
| Someone offering to trade the account for you | Managing money for a client is a separate permission. The register says whether a firm holds it. |
| A withdrawal released only after a new payment | Read the withdrawal terms you agreed to. A fee invented at payout time is not in them. |
None of this is a judgement about any firm. Each line is a check you can run yourself, starting at uaecma.gov.ae.
