How Much Can You Earn From Forex?
The honest answer is that no one can tell you your forex earnings in advance, because they depend on your skill, risk and costs.
Why nobody can give you an earnings figure in advance
Forex trading returns are not fixed, and any calculator that produces a profit figure is simply multiplying inputs you supply. The output is only as realistic as your assumptions about win rate, risk per trade and the number of trades you take. Change one input and the result changes completely.
A profit calculator is useful for checking the arithmetic of a potential trade, not for forecasting a monthly income. You enter your entry, exit and position size, and it shows the result before costs. That is a planning tool, not a promise.
Anyone offering a guaranteed monthly percentage from forex is describing something that does not exist. The UAE regulator, the CMA, publishes a register of licensed companies at uaecma.gov.ae, and checking it is a sensible first step before sending money anywhere.

A register says whether a firm holds a licence on the day you look, and nothing about how it treats clients. The brand will not be on the register; the legal entity in the footer should be.
The costs that quietly reduce what you keep
Your gross profit is not your net profit. Spreads, commissions, swap or financing charges and any conversion fees sit between the two. These vary by broker and by account type, so read the funding and pricing pages of the specific broker you are considering rather than relying on general figures.
Funding method matters too. Bank transfer is the main rail in the UAE, with local bank transfer, card and international wire also available. Each can carry its own fee or exchange cost, and your bank's app will show what a transfer actually costs before you confirm it.
Currency is a further consideration. If your account is not in AED, moving money in and out involves conversion, and the rate you receive is set by the provider, not by the market mid-price you see on a chart.
The funding rails, and who sets their limits
- Local bank transfer
- Limits set by your bank and the broker
- Card
- Card payment — limits set by your card issuer and the broker
- International wire
- Bank transfer — limits set by your bank and the broker
Limits and fees are set by the provider and the broker and change without notice, so they are not printed here. Look at the app and the broker's funding page before you send anything, and keep paying in and taking out on one account.
What actually determines your results over time
Three things matter more than any calculator: how much you risk per trade, how consistently you apply a method, and how long you survive the learning period. Risking a large share of your account on one trade turns a normal losing streak into a serious setback.
The learning period is real. Learning forex trading takes time, and how long depends on the hours you put in and whether you practise on a demo account before risking money. Starting for free and earning money are not the same activity; a demo account teaches mechanics, not the pressure of real capital.
Session timing affects opportunity. In Gulf Standard Time, Sydney runs 01:00 to 10:00, Tokyo 04:00 to 13:00, London 12:00 to 21:00 and New York 16:00 to 01:00. The London and New York overlap, 16:00 to 21:00 GST, is typically the busiest window for major pairs.
The hours that matter, in GST
- Busiest window
- 16:00-21:00 GST — London and New York open together
- Thinnest stretch
- 01:00-10:00 GST — Sydney alone, wider spreads
- European open
- 12:00-21:00 GST
- US open
- 16:00-01:00 GST
- Closed
- Friday New York close until the Sydney open on Monday
Hours are given for the clocks currently in force: London stays on GMT until 28 March, and New York stays on EDT until 1 November. The UAE does not change clocks, so each move shifts these local times by an hour and the page is rebuilt on the day it happens.
How to build a realistic expectation before you deposit
Start by writing down what you would consider a good outcome and what you would consider unacceptable. Then check whether your intended position sizes and stop distances are consistent with that, using a calculator rather than guesswork. If the numbers only work when every trade wins, the plan is not realistic.
Verify the broker's regulatory status before anything else. Three regimes coexist in the UAE: the Capital Market Authority onshore, the DFSA in the DIFC and the FSRA in the ADGM. A broker's licence says which one applies, and that changes who handles a complaint if something goes wrong.
Finally, treat any earnings figure you see advertised as marketing rather than information. Your own results will come from your decisions, your costs and your discipline, and those are the only variables you control.

| USD/AED | open.er-api.com | 2026-09-28 |
| Funding limits and fees | Set by the provider and the broker — not published here | Changes without notice |
Every figure here has somewhere it came from and a day it was read. The ones we could not trace were left out.
Your bank transfer record is the first document a dispute will ask for
When a transfer leaves a UAE bank account, the confirmation sits in the banking app, not in the trading platform. That record carries the reference, the date and the receiving name. Keep it. A platform statement alone is weaker evidence if a question later arises about whether funds arrived or where they were sent.
This matters because the main funding rail here is bank transfer, with local transfer, card and international wire also used. Each route produces a different confirmation format. A card payment shows on a card statement, an international wire may pass through an intermediary, and a local transfer usually clears with a clear local reference.
Before sending anything, check the receiving account details against the broker's own funding page rather than an email or message. The CMA register at uaecma.gov.ae tells you whether a firm appears on the licensed list, but it does not confirm bank details. Those two checks are separate and both are needed.
Account opening: the documents
- Emirates ID or passport with residence visa
- Who you are
- Selfie with the ID document
- That the document is in your hands
Brokers usually also ask for proof of address - Ejari or utility bill; requirements differ per firm. Brokers publish what they accept on the page where the account is opened.
Trading in GST means your day ends before New York does
The UAE runs on GST, UTC+4, with no daylight saving shift. That places the local evening squarely inside the overlap between London and New York hours. For anyone with a day job here, the active window falls after work, which sounds convenient until fatigue is counted.
The practical consequence is a compressed decision window. Sessions that matter most to major currency pairs occur late in the UAE evening, and the quiet Asian hours fall in the local morning. A strategy built around a European morning simply cannot be run from Dubai or Abu Dhabi without automation.
Decide in advance which hours you will actually watch, and write that down. If the answer is two late evenings a week, then results will be shaped by those hours, not by the market as a whole. Sleep lost to a screen is a real cost that never appears on a statement.
| Platform | What it is | Who makes it |
|---|---|---|
| MetaTrader 4 | The older standard; expert advisors and a large script ecosystem | MetaQuotes |
| MetaTrader 5 | The newer build; more order types and timeframes | MetaQuotes |
| cTrader | Depth of market and a different order model | Spotware |
| The broker's own app | Usually simpler, and tied to that one firm | The broker |
A platform is software, not a safeguard: the same terminal is offered by licensed and unlicensed firms alike. The licence question is answered on the register, not in the app store.
A demo account hides the one variable that changes behaviour
Demo trading removes the consequence of a loss. That is useful for learning platform mechanics and order types. It is not useful for learning how you behave when the money is yours. The gap between the two is where most early accounts fail.
The failure mode is specific. A trader performs well on demo, funds a live account through a bank transfer, and then changes position size, cuts winners early or holds losers. None of that is a platform problem. It is the arrival of real money changing the decision.
A middle step is to trade the smallest size the broker permits, funded by a transfer you would not miss, and treat the first weeks as a behaviour record rather than a performance record. Note what you did, not what you earned. The broker's funding page states the minimum it accepts; that figure is theirs to publish, not ours to guess.
| Figure | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Indicative USD/AED | 3.67 | open.er-api.com, pulled 2026-09-28 |
| How often it moves | Every trading day | — |
| The rate your account uses | Your broker's own conversion | The broker's rate card |
| Symbol on this site | AED | — |
An indicative rate is for sizing a position in your head, not for settling one. The conversion your broker applies sits some way from this number, and the gap is yours to pay.
Withdrawals test a broker more than deposits do
Depositing is designed to be easy. Withdrawing follows rules that are often less visible until the moment they apply. Many firms return funds to the original payment source first, which means a card deposit may be refunded to that card before any bank transfer is used.
That has a practical effect in the UAE, where several rails are in play. If a card has expired or been cancelled since the deposit, the return route can stall. A local bank transfer is usually the cleaner path out, but only if the account name matches the trading account name. Third party transfers are commonly refused.
Before funding, read the withdrawal section on the broker's own site and confirm which documents are required for identity and address verification. Completing verification while the account is calm is far easier than completing it while waiting on money. The CMA register at uaecma.gov.ae confirms licensing, not withdrawal speed.
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| A fixed monthly return, promised in advance | Ask which licence permits it, then look the firm up on the CMA register of licensed companies. |
| A deposit asked for in gift cards or vouchers | Check the broker's own funding page: firms list bank, card and wallet rails, not vouchers. |
| Someone offering to trade the account for you | Managing money for a client is a separate permission. The register says whether a firm holds it. |
| A withdrawal released only after a new payment | Read the withdrawal terms you agreed to. When a payout occurs, any fee invented then is not in them. |
None of this is a judgement about any firm. Each line is a check you can run yourself, starting at uaecma.gov.ae.
Leverage changes the size of the mistake, not the odds
Leverage is frequently described as a way to earn more from a smaller deposit. That framing is backwards. It scales the position, and therefore scales the loss, on the same price move. The probability of being right does not change at all.
The UAE reader should treat margin as a constraint rather than an opportunity. A larger position with the same stop distance risks more per trade. If the stop is placed by the market's structure and the size is then adjusted to fit, leverage becomes a sizing tool. If size is chosen first, leverage becomes the risk.
The order of operations matters: decide the stop level from the chart, decide the amount that can be lost on that stop, and only then calculate position size. Brokers publish their margin requirements on their own pages. Anyone unsure how a margin call works should read that page before funding, not after.
What readers ask
You can open a demo account and learn the mechanics at no cost, and many brokers let you practise that way. Earning money, however, requires real capital at risk, and the outcome depends on your skill and the costs you pay. A demo account does not prepare you for the emotional weight of real money.
There is no fixed timeline. It depends on how many hours you study, whether you practise consistently on a demo account, and how well you manage risk once real money is involved. Treating it as a skill built over months rather than weeks is more realistic than expecting quick competence.
The CMA publishes a register of licensed companies at uaecma.gov.ae, and you can check a firm there. Remember that three regimes coexist: the CMA onshore, the DFSA in the DIFC and the FSRA in the ADGM. Which licence a broker holds determines who handles a complaint.
