Choosing a forex broker in the UAE: what can actually be checked
This page does not rank brokers and does not score them. It shows who is licensed by the CMA, what each licence covers, and the four checks that are possible before you deposit.
We do not publish a ranking, and here is why
A ranking of brokers is an opinion dressed as a measurement. The figures that would make it honest — real spreads at the hour you trade, real withdrawal times, real rejection rates — are not published in any verifiable form by anyone, and the sites ranking brokers are usually paid by the firms they rank.
Verifiable is the register itself: who is permitted to take your money, for what service, and whether that permission still holds today. That is what this page is.
| The measurement | Where it is published | What we use instead |
|---|---|---|
| Real spread at the hour you trade | Nowhere, in a comparable form | Nothing - ask the broker for its own live spread |
| Real withdrawal time | Nowhere; firms publish targets, not outcomes | The broker's own withdrawal terms |
| Order rejection and slippage rates | Nowhere for retail accounts | The licence category: dealing or non-dealing |
| Whether the firm may take your money at all | The regulator's register, publicly | That is the check this page is built on |
A site that ranks brokers is usually paid by the firms it ranks. Of all the elements in the question, only the register has an answer that is public.
What the 27 licensed entities are allowed to do
| Category | Firms | Examples from the register |
|---|---|---|

Three regulators, and only one of them is this list
The UAE licenses financial firms under three regimes: the Capital Market Authority onshore, the DFSA in the DIFC and the FSRA in the ADGM. A licence belongs to one of them, and so does the complaint route that comes with it. The extract below is the CMA list; a firm supervised in a free zone will not appear on it, and that absence says which register to open rather than what the firm is worth.
Read the activity on the entry as carefully as the name. A permission for one service is not a permission for another, and that line is where the register answers a question a brand name cannot.
| What a firm holds | What it means | Covers leveraged FX and CFDs? |
|---|---|---|
| A CMA licence, onshore | Capital Market Authority, the register on this page | Yes — when the activity on the entry says so |
| A DFSA or FSRA licence | A licence in the DIFC or the ADGM free zone | Yes — but under that zone's rules, and its complaint route |
| Neither | The firm is outside all three regimes | No — no UAE authority has powers over it on your behalf |
Three registers, not one. A firm missing from this list may be licensed in a free zone, so the next question is which authority, not whether the firm is real.
The CMA register settles the licence question, not the service question
The CMA register at uaecma.gov.ae settles one thing: whether a firm holds a current licence from the Capital Market Authority. That is the first check, and it is binary. A firm is either on the list or it is not.
What the register cannot settle is whether the broker suits your trading. It does not tell you how orders are routed, how withdrawals are processed, or how quickly support answers. Those are operational differences, and they are not visible on a public list.
The register also does not rank firms. A licence is a permission to operate, not a score. Two licensed brokers can differ entirely in platform, payment handling, and customer service, and the register will look the same for both.

A register says whether a firm holds a licence on the day you look, and nothing about how it treats clients. The brand will not be on the register; the legal entity in the footer should be.
Three UAE regimes mean three complaint routes, and the licence tells you which
Three regimes coexist in the UAE: the Capital Market Authority onshore, the DFSA in the DIFC, and the FSRA in the ADGM. A broker's licence says which one, and that changes who handles a complaint.
If you are an expatriate with a bank account in the UAE, this matters before you fund anything. A dispute with an onshore CMA-licensed firm follows one path. A dispute with a DIFC or ADGM firm follows another. The register entry tells you which regulator to approach.
Check the licence regime first, then decide whether the broker's platform and payment methods fit how you trade. The licence does not make a broker good or bad; it tells you where to go if something goes wrong.

Every figure here has somewhere it came from and a day it was read. The ones we could not trace were left out.
Four checkable differences: platform, payments, session access, and support
The four-check list on this page covers what you can verify rather than what a broker claims. First, the platform: does it offer the order types and charting you actually use? A demo account answers this in an hour.
Second, payments. Bank transfer is the main rail in the UAE, with local bank transfer, card, and international wire also available. Check the broker's funding page for which of these it supports and how withdrawals are handled. Do not rely on marketing pages; read the funding terms.
Third, session access. Sydney runs 01:00-10:00 GST, Tokyo 04:00-13:00 GST, London 11:00-20:00 GST, and New York 16:00-01:00 GST. The London/New York overlap is 16:00-20:00 GST. If you trade after work, check that the broker's platform is responsive during those hours.
Fourth, support. Test it before you deposit. Send a question about withdrawals or platform access and see how long a reply takes. A broker that answers slowly before you fund will not speed up after.
The hours that matter, in GST
- Busiest window
- 16:00-21:00 GST — London and New York open together
- Thinnest stretch
- 01:00-10:00 GST — Sydney alone, wider spreads
- European open
- 12:00-21:00 GST
- US open
- 16:00-01:00 GST
- Closed
- Friday New York close until the Sydney open on Monday
Hours are given for the clocks currently in force: London stays on GMT until 28 March, and New York stays on EDT until 1 November. The UAE does not change clocks, so each move shifts these local times by an hour and the page is rebuilt on the day it happens.
What to ignore when comparing brokers in the UAE
Ignore any ranking that does not show its method. A list of best brokers is only as good as the criteria behind it, and most published rankings do not disclose how they weigh platform, payments, and regulation.
Ignore claims about being the best trading app or the best online trading platform. Those are marketing labels, not checkable facts. The checkable facts are the licence regime, the funding methods, and the platform's behaviour during the sessions you trade.
Ignore promises of profit. No licensed broker can guarantee outcomes, and any firm that suggests otherwise is telling you something about how it operates. Your decision should rest on the register entry and the four checks, not on a ranking.
Account opening: the documents
- Emirates ID or passport with residence visa
- Who you are
- Selfie with the ID document
- That the document is in your hands
Brokers usually also ask for proof of address - Ejari or utility bill; requirements differ per firm. Brokers publish what they accept on the page where the account is opened.
Four things that can be verified
All four take one browser tab and about five minutes. None of them depends on trusting a review site, this one included.
Open the CMA register- 1The licence covers the service you are about to useA licence names activities. The register, not the broker's own page, is where it is written down that a firm licensed for one of them is not supervised for another.
- 2The entity in your agreement is the entity on the registerGroups onboard clients through several companies. Here you must enter the name that appears in the client agreement and on the payment details, letter for letter.
- 3The status is current on the day you depositA register is a snapshot. Suspended, lapsed or revoked means stop, and a name you cannot find at all means there is no local supervision behind your money.
- 4What is not in the register cannot be verifiedSpreads, execution speed, bonuses and awards are claims. No public document is available for checking them, so they are not repeated here.
